| Christopher was the joint executor, with his mother Margaret Wannop, of his father's will of 1763 and inherited the residue of the estate after bequests had been made.
I believe that this was the Christopher Wannop from "Bankhead" who died in 1817 aged 71, implying that he was born in 1746, rather than 1747 so there is a slight discrepancy. A record from Newby (provided by Urlan Wannop) states that a Christopher Wannop householder died in 1812, age 68, but this Christopher must have been born in 1744 rather than 1747, so the dates are not such a good fit. However, I now think that it is unlikely that they had a son Thomas in 1775, and I have no confirmation of a son John in 1773. In fact no sons are mentioned in the will. Christopher was baptised in Wreay, as his sisters were, so he had probably alreadt been taken care of.
