| In the 1901 census, Audrey was aged 7 and was reported to have been born in Durham.
According to Ron Wicks, Audrey's birth year was 1894 not 1893, but this would have made her aged only 6 at the time of the 1901 census and 16 in the 1911 census, so I think that this must be incorrect.
In the 1911 census, she was aged 17, born in Gateshead on Tyne and was working as draper's assistant, presumably with her father at Bainbridges.
Audrey's main interests were fashion (on which she apparently spent a lot of money) and bridge. On one occasion when Howard came back from the sea, she would not go to the docks to meet him because she was too busy playing bridge.
After being widowed, she bought two Victorian Houses houses in Gosforth , for £2,000 each. One was13 West Avenue, where she lived until she died, and the other was rented out. She enjoyed collecting porcelain.
She use to refer to London visits as coming "up to town" and I remember that she always used to wear fox fur stoles. She was cremated. |

| | I'm not sure about the name Cuthbert, but there was certainly one more child who died in infancy, because three deceased children are noted in the 1911 census. The year given is based on the dates for the other children, the largest gap being around 1907. FreeBMD could not help. The other alternative ids that this missing child was born first, around 1889 |
