| John was described as being a yeoman of Mortomley. I suspect that The John Parkin who married Jane Stead and had a son Thomas may have been a different John, because there is a reference that said that there was no issue. His will was dated 18th April 1634, in which he made bequests to his neice Jane Hanley and to his nephew John Parkin His wish was to be buried in Ecclesfield |

| According to the Ecclesfield parish records, Zachary Parkin the son of Thomas Parkin was baptised on 23rd March 1619. But he was married in 1630, so something is awry here. The IGI has "about 1605", but I don't know where this comes from (probably just 25 years before his marriage). Perhaps he was not baptised as an infant. It is of course possible that there were two Thomas Parkyns, both of whom had a son called Zachariah (it was actually quite a popular name among the Parkins)
Another odd thing is that the wording of this Zachariah's will implies that his eldest son John was still a minor in 1653, implying that he was born after 1632, which is at odds with him being christened in 1629 (actually before his parents were married!)
This is his will . . . . .
