Evan Lloyd was shown to be the father of Thomas Lloyd on the certificate of his marriage to Anne Jones (nee Rice) in 1842 and his occupation was shown to be that of a carpenter then. But I have not been able to find Thomas's baptism record. His occupation when his eldest son Evan's was born on Aug 21 1814 (ie 3 months after his marriage!) was shown to be that of a carpenter and this records shows the mother to have been Anne. At this time he was apparently living in Trebrys, about 2 miles east of Llanrhaiadr.

Identifying Evan Lloyd in the various censuses is a little difficult, because of inconsistencies in his occupation, age and place of birth.

He was still a Carpenter (or Joiner) in the 1851 and 1861 census returns.

His occupation in the 1841 census is shown as agricultural labourer, which is a lttle confusing. But this must have been the same Evan as in 1851 census because the children listed (David and Elizabeth) here were the same in both returns.

In the 1841 Census of Llanfechain - Evan was aged 50 and living at at Wern y Glyn, implying that he was born in 1791. But this census was often not very precise with regards to age. Margaret was aged 45, implying her birth in 1796. The 1841 Census states that both of them were born out of the county (ie not in Montgomeryshire), which would be consistent with him having been born in Denbighshire, but not with her having been born in Hirnant.

In the 1851 Census Llanfechain - both Evan and Margaret were shown to be aged 54 [implying that they were both born in 1797]. This census lists Evan as having been born in Llanrhaiader, Denbighshire. He was shown with wife Margaret (born Hirnant) and their daughter Elizabeth (2)

In the 1861 Census of Llanfechain, Evan was shown to be a joiner age 70 [implying birth in 1791]
Robert, Elizabeth (nee Lloyd) and their daughter Elizabeth were living with them by now. The place of origin for both Evan and Margaret given as Llanwadden (Llanwyddn?) in the 1861 census.

In the 1871 Census of Llansaintfraid, Llanfyllin, Evan was widowed and aged 80, so again he must have been born in1791, reportedly in Llanfechan, but this is clearly incorrect as this is the same family as in the 1861 census. Now he was described then as a Wheelwright, which is perhaps not so different from a carpenter

We are assuming that these were all the same Evan Lloyd because he was known to be a carpenter.
If this is the case then his first wife Ann (nee Morris) must have died between 1831 (when son Edward died) and 1833 when he remarried, but a record of Ann's burial has yet to be located.
NOTE that in the record of Evan's second marriage to Margaret Davies, he is said to have been a bachelor rather than a widow, which confuses the matter somewhat. Could there have been two carpenters called Evan Lloyd?
Evan was buried with second wife Margaret at the Parish Church of St Garmon in Llanfechain (Wern-y-Glyn), aged 85, implying that he was born in 1787 ( rather than 1791) which certainly fits in with him having been born the son of Edward and Elin in early 1788.
The inscription on the memorial stone is in Welsh. This stone is believed to be 10 (feet?)north of the east gateway against the outside wall.

Living in Llanrhaiadr ym Mochnant in 1788 when Evan was born, but Evan was baptised at Llangynog.
This was orobably the Edward Lloyd who was buried at Llanrhaiadr ym Mochnant on July 5th 1825, aged 75. He was described as living at Pen y Ganedd, Pennant.
Another Edward Lloyd (of Henfach) was buried at Llanrhaiadr ym Mochnant on 3rd April 1814 aged 59, so born in 1755, so this might have been him.
A third Edward Lloyd (of Cefn Coch) was buried on 3rd July 1828 aged 60, but he wouldf have been born in 1768, so would have only been age 13 in 1781m, so this could not have been him.
