| Thomas described himself in his will as being a yeoman of Mortomley. In 1599, Ralph Carr assigned a piece of land to Thomas Parkin... "the moiety of a messuage with lands in Mortomley" From Feet of Fines of the Tudor Period [Yorks] part 4 Trinity term 41 Elizabeth
Thomas was the heir to his father's will, because a suit in Chancery dated 3/11/1602 issued by his step nephew William Parkyn failed.
There is some confusion about wives and dates. According to the Ecclresfield registers, Thomas married Margaret Askew in 1618. But Zachariah the youngest son was born in 1619. Perhaps he had another wife before Margaret. When his will was made, his wife was called Elizabeth!
The following is a description in the Ecclesfield registers of the Parkyn line originating from Thomas:
Thomas Parkyn was of Mortomley: he was born 1563 and was the oldest son of John, son of Peter, son of Robert Parkyn living temp Henry Viii. Thomas Parkyn had issue, by Margaret Askew his wife, three sons of whom the youngest, Zachariah, succeeded to the Mortomley estates etc, by the will of his eldest brother John Parkyn dated 18th April 1634. He (ie Zachariah) had issue by his wife, Isabel, a son and heir John Parkyn of Mortomley who, dying in 1674,left issue by Sarah his wife a son and heir John Parkin of Mortomley who by his first wife Elizabeth, daughter and co-heir of John Adams of Darley Hall, had issue, inter alios, Paul Parkin of the Horbury who, by his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Francis Broadbent of Bramley Hall, left issue on his death in 1751 inter alios, a son and heir Thomas Parkin who, succeeeding to his uncle, William Parkin's estates, became Lord of the Manor of Darley. He married Hannah, daughter of William Wilkinson, of Crowder House, and dying left issue a son and daughter: William bn 9th October 1807 but died a minor, and Catherine Parkyn, sole heiress who married 10th April 1827 John Jeffcock Esq JP, 2nsd son of John Jeffcock of High Hayles. They had issue Parkin Jeffcock who was killed in the Oaks Colliery explosion when leading a body of volunteers to the rescue of those in the pit., Elizabeth Ann Jeffcock and Rev. John Thomas Jeffcock MA of Oriel collerge Oxford and rector of Collegiate church of Wolverhampton who married 28/5/1861 Alicia Ann, 2nd daughter of the Rev. Salisbury Everard MA, vicar of Swaffham and by her has a numerous family.
Thomas made his will made 1645, mentioning his wife Elizabeth and his sons Thomas, James and Zachary (the youngest). The witness to the will was John Parkin (possibly the curate)
