Hazel went to sleep for the last time on March 9, 2009, in her 78th year, at home. Hazel emigrated from Newcastle to Canada in 1947. She, her mother, siblings and many aunts, uncles and cousins all arrived during a short period after the war. Hazel is predeceased by her first husband Jack Pinder, her second Wilf Prosser and her sister June Pratt, and survived by her brother Nigel and sister-in-law Elsie of Surrey, B.C., her devoted sons Robert and Partner Mie McElcheran, William and James Pinder, and her cherished grandson Julian Pinder and partner Alejandra Miguel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and by her beloved cousins: Jerry Wannop, Susan Lumley, Jane Falls, Margaret White, Madeline Ross and Kate Hunter and their spouses. Hazel garnered many dear friends over the years from the Dundas Little Theatre, Temple Anshe Sholom Nursery School, MUMC, book clubs, volunteer work, most recently with the Dundas Historical Museum, and from her deep love and support of the Valley Town. Cremation has taken place and a gathering to celebrate the life and times of this bright and extraordinary lady will be held on April 3, 2009, at the Auditorium Dundas Town Hall at 2 p.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Good Shepherd would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Marlatt Funeral Home, Dundas.
