Of Bethnal Green
It is worth noting that on 8th June 1641, Hugh Berry Gent. of St Paul's Covent Garden, bachelor aged 27, and Margaret Denham, of same, a spinster aged 22, were married. Consent of father Roger Denham of Hinton St George co Somerset, Yeoman at St Mary Magdelen, Old Fish Street, These must surely have been ancestors of James Berry for him to have named his son Denham. In view of the dates, he must have been either his grandfather or, more likely, his great grandfather.
Note that a James Berry of St James. Clerkenwell married a Margaret Mott of Stepney on 25th Mary 1725, but this was surely much too early to be the correct marriage.-
