According to Kelly's Ditrectory of 1902, Walter was a farmer at Blackaburn

Walter's tombstone could be found at Wark churchyard, according to William Robson Young in his 1955 letter to Dorothy.

Mary was living at Wark at the time of the 1871 census, where she was described as age 32, the wife of a wood merchant and born in Thorneyburn. The record condirms that the head (ie William) was absent. Also shown were:
Thomas Robson, age 7 and born in Wark
Catherine Robson age 5 and born at Chollerton
Mary Ellen Robson age 3 and born at Wark
Sarah and Annie Robson, both aged 4 months (ie twins) and born at Wark.
There was one servant, Jane Chester, who was aged 16 from Haydonbridge.
