James Baskerville of Aberedw, gent, was one of the many trustee to a deed dated 6th of January 1686 that relates the the Boughrood Charity, founded by the Rev. Rees Powell of Becon. Full details can be found in "The History of Brecknockshire by Theophilus Jones"
James was a beneficiary in the 1665 will of his father James. He was also a beneficiary in the 1674 will of his uncle Walter
In the 1675 indenture below, Ann Vaughan is described as one of James' three spinster sisters, but in this case, why was her surname Vaughan? I suspect that she was the illegitimate daughter of a Miss Vaughan by James, before he married Dorothy Blayney around 1630. This would explain why she is always mentioned in the indentures before Joan and Ellinor. The 1675 indenture was presumably drawn up following the death of uncle Walter in 1674.

His will was made on 7th July 1686 and can be found at the NLW (ref br 1692/1) . . . .
It is possible that one (or possibly two) of his sons may have died between the time that this will was made and the time of James' death, because it appears that the first two of his bequests in the will were obliterated. Edward Griffin was probably his brother-in-law. It is probably safe to assume that Walter, James, John and Dorothy were all under 21 in 1686, implying that they must actually all have been born after 1665. I'm not sure why Nicholas was not mentioned in the will. But I am sure that Edward was a son, because in his own will he mentions his 4 brothers: Thomas, Nicholas, John and James. I originally thought that James had another son called Jeremiah, but it would seem that his mother was Bridget of Llanbedr Paincastle, so not closely related.
