MI - ... Also the above John Joad died 3rd April 1757 age 66 years...
His will reads as follows (everything left to his wife Sarah):
In the name of God amen, I John Joad of Ramsgate, mariner, being of a sound disposing mind, memory and understanding do by divine permission make, publish and declare these presents to be and contain my last will and testament in manner following:
First as touching(?) the disposal of my temporal estate I order give devise and bequeath the same as follows that is to say. ffirst I will and appoint that all the rest, residue and remainder of goods, chattels, rights, credits, ready money and securitys for money, stock in trade and all other my estate whatsoever both real and personal which I shall dye possessed of or be intitled unto either in reversion or expertaury(?) I give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my dear and loving wife Sarah Joad her heirs, executors and administrators and assigns and make, name constitute and appoint my said wife Sarah to be sole executrix of this my will and do revoke and make void all former wills and testaments by me in any wise heretofore mentioned or declared In Witness whereof I the said John Joad have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty fourth day of May in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and fift six - John Joad - witnesses George Kemp, Dan Finden, Jane Kemp.
This will was proved at London on the nineteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty six before the worshipful George Harris Doctor of Laws surrogate of the right honourablr Sir George Lee Knight also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or commissary of the prerogative court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Sarah Joad widow the relict of the deceased and sole executrix named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn duly to administer. |
