| Ethnographic expert, Antropologist and Linguistic, noted for his research in the origins, languages and customs of the Forest Indians of eastern Paraguay. Son of Australian inmigrants belonging to the New Australia Cooperative Society, grew up in Villarrica, where he devoted his life and work to the study of the Mbya-Guarani and Ache Indians. Translated into Spanish, the classic mythical Mbya-Guarani texts, Ayvu-Rapyta (The basis of Human Language),and Ywyra Neery (The word flows from the Tress). | Farmer At the age of 17, while doing fencing works at Santa Barbara, Paraguay, he was forcibly enlisted into a revolutionary group, and taken captive. After escaping, the hardship experienced on his return home through dense forest of the Eastern Paraguay region affected his health, and hedeveloped TB. He died the year after his return to Villarrica. |
