| In his father's will, it is John's responsibility to ensure that his sisters receive the money that is due to them. The implication is, I think, that John was the eldest son.

| Martha inherited 50 pounds in the will of her father John, to be paid to her by her brother John
For some reason, Martha was not mentioned as a beneficiary in uncle Edward's will.
According to Familiae Minorum Gentium, John Wordsworth of Monk Bretton was bequeathed 1,000 pounds in the will of a Martha Adams (Bedford recorded the amount as 100 pounds, which seems more likely). I suspect that this was she, having married a Mr Adams, bequeathing money to two sons of her younger brother Josias, John and Thomas. The latter (also?) received 100 pounds.
So she probably had no children. Unfrortunately, I have been unable to locate this will. It is worth noting that Josias's daughters Mary and Elizabeth and son John all named one of their daughters Martha, presumably after their aunt. Oddly enough his son Thomas did not. |

| Josias inherited land at Cumberworth from his uncle Edward Wordsworth, as mentioned in his father's will of 1651, in which he also inherited his father's share. I believe that this may be the same land that was mentioned in the 1577 will of Henry Wordsworth of Langside, bequeathed to his son John. In 1651, when his father's will was made, Josias would appear to have been less than 21 years old, so he must have been boen after 1630. Josias made his will in 1670. He had various pieces of land in Cumberworth and was later living at Walton Hall. In his will he mentions his eldest son John, his younger sons Josias and Thomas and his two daughters Mary and Elizabeth, all of them under the age of 24, the age at which they would come into their inheritance. His wife Mary was the executrix, so she must have died later than 1670.
Josias was a churchwarden in 1668 but was buried on 2nd March 1668 OS
