John Wordsworth was described as being a yeoman of Water Hall, Penistone.

His will was dated 13th September 1603 - it was proved on 5th July 1604, so he must have died in late 1603 or early 1604. I am assuming he was the John Wordsworth whose death record I found in the Penistone BTs at Barnsley library, so he made his will the day before he died

Named in his nephew John's will of 1613 and in the following of 1618


Copy surrender and admittance CM/713 21 Apr 1618
Court Manor of Penistone of Godfrey Bosville. Charles Rowley of Brigend surrendered a building standing on a moiety of those customary lands once held by William Jenkinson and Joan his wife and all those lands which the said Charles had by surrender of Alice Bawmeforthe in Penistone and Thurleston to the use of Gregory Wordsworth who is below legal age, his father William Wordsworth to hold until he comes of age. He paid fine 3s and was admitted.
