| John Wordsworth was "one of His Majesty's coroners for the county of York
In 1721, John was bequeathed a farm and land in Cumberworth in the parish of Silkstone in his father's will. He was already living there by this time. Also mentioned in his father's will were his 4 daughters, all of whom were born before 1721. His grandfather Josias was said to have been "of Cumberworth and Walton Hall", where he died in 1670. This probably explains why John had moved to Sandal Magna by 1729. John still had land interests in Nether Cumberworth as late as 1743
THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS ARE LOCATED AT THE WAKEFIELD DEEDS REGISTRY

John's will was made in 1757, just before he died, and the original is at the John Goodchild collection in Wakefield. This will was apparently not proved. Note that the two references to sons John Townend and John Wordsworth effectively prove that he was indeed the father of the Elizabeth Wordsworth who married John Townend in 1741, despite the small discrepancy in her age at marriage and death.
"In the name of God amen, I John Wordsworth of Walton in the parish of Sandal Magna in the county of York, Gentleman, being sick in body but of a perfect sound and disposing(?) memory (praised be God for the same) yet considering the certainty of my death but the uncertainty of the time thereof, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following: First my will and mind is that all my debts, funeral expenses and charges of proving this my will shall be paid by my executrix hereinafter named.
